Frequently Asked Questions
What is Fortis One
Fortis One is an all-in-one POS system combining a widescreen Android tablet with an integrated SmartPOS payment terminal. It covers order taking, payment, kitchen coordination, inventory, and back-office management from a single setup.
What's the difference between the F&B and Retail configurations?
Retail includes catalog management with product variations and attributes, and real-time inventory tracking.
F&B adds menu management with modifiers and allergens, table management, pre-bill, and included add-ons (KDS, QR Menu, QR Tips, Kitchen Bot).
Do I need to buy a specific tablet?
No. Any Android tablet works as the widescreen interface. A tablet is available through Fortis as optional hardware, but you can use your own Android device.
Are KDS, QR Menu, and QR Tips extra costs for F&B?
No. KDS, QR Menu, QR Tips, and Kitchen Bot are all included for F&B merchants. No additional hardware purchase is needed for any of these. They run as web applications on any browser-enabled device.
Can I manage multiple locations?
Yes. Each device and KDS screen is linked to a specific location. Multi-location management is available via the cloud back office.
Do changes in the back office reflect on the POS immediately?
Yes. All updates to the catalog or menu sync to the POS in real time.
What is a modifier?
A modifier is a paid or free add-on attached to a menu item. For example, oat milk for a coffee or extra cheese for a burger. It adjusts the final price but is not tracked in inventory.
Do modifiers affect my inventory?
No. Modifiers do not deduct stock. Inventory tracking stays at the base product level.
What is Delivery Order Tracking?
It's a feature that lets staff register orders from delivery platforms (Talabat, Careem, Deliveroo, etc.) directly in the POS. Fortis does not process payments. It records the order for tracking and reporting. This gives you a unified view of all revenue in one place.
Does Fortis connect directly to Talabat or Careem?
No. This is a manual flow; staff registers delivery orders themselves using Custom Payment Types. Direct API or middleware integration is planned for a future phase.
Can I disable a delivery platform without deleting it?
Yes. Toggle the Activity switch off to hide it from the POS. The platform is preserved for historical records and can be re-enabled at any time.
Can refunds be issued for delivery orders?
Yes. Manual refunds are supported for Custom Payment Type orders.
