Creating your Catalog

Before you can make Catalog Sales, you need a product catalog. It lets staff find items quickly and gives you item-level reports. You can add items one by one, as below, or many at once with How to import your catalog.

Create categories

  1. Sign in to the Fortis POS Platform at https://my.fortis.world/auth/login.
  2. Click Catalog in the top menu.
  3. Click Category to create a parent category. Set the Status to Active or Hidden.
  4. Check the Localization option. English is currently supported.
  5. Enter the category Name. Leave Parent empty for a top-level category.
  6. Optionally add a Description and an image (PNG or JPG, up to 5 MB), then click Add.
  7. To add a subcategory, select the parent category, click Category again, choose the Parent category, enter a Name and click Add.

Add items

  1. Select a category or subcategory and click Add item.
  2. Enter the Name and Price, and add a product image.
  3. Select the Status, Category, VAT and Measure (piece, kilogram, liter, hour, day and others).
  4. Enter a Description, and optionally a Barcode and SKU. An invalid barcode causes an error: leave it empty or enter a valid one.
  5. To add variations, click Add and enter the Name, Price, Barcode and SKU for each.
  6. Click Save, or Save & Create New to add another item.

Edit an item or change its price

Changes sync to your terminals; if one doesn't show, go to Sales on the terminal and tap Sync.

Applying Discounts

Discounts attract customers and help you manage sales. The Fortis POS App supports a discount on the whole sale or on a single item.

Sale discount (applies to the whole cart)

  1. Log in to the Fortis POS App.
  2. Go to Sales.
  3. Tap New Sale and continue To Cart, or open an existing sale.
  4. In the Cart screen, tap Add and select Discount.
  5. Enter the discount percentage and tap Save.
  6. The discount appears at the top of the item list. Tap it to Edit, or tap the red bin and select Remove to delete it.

Item discount (applies to one item)

  1. Log in to the Fortis POS App.
  2. Go to Sales.
  3. Tap New Sale and continue To Cart, or open an existing sale.
  4. In the Cart screen, tap the item.
  5. Tap the three-dot menu and select Item discount.
  6. Enter a percentage, or select Amount and enter a fixed discount in AED. Tap Save.
  7. To change it, tap the item again and open Item Discount.
  8. To remove it, enter 0% or AED 0 and tap Save.
