Refunding a transaction
Void can be done for a transaction before it settles. If already settled, process a refund instead.

How to do a Partial Refund for a Transaction
- Open Fortis → Sales.
- Find the transaction by date, amount, or last 4 digits of the card.
- Tap the transaction, then tap Refund.
- Use the same Card for card payments and Tap it on the terminal, it will be Refunded.
Processing Void
A Void can only be processed before the settlement is completed. Void cancels the transaction and refunds the full amount automatically to the same card used for the payment. The customer is not required to tap the card again during the void process.
Information needed before requesting a refund
Find the transaction in Fortis → Sales and note:
- Sale Number — unique transaction identifier
- Transaction date, Time and amount
- Exact refund amount for partial refunds
For void failures, Submit a Request or a chat with Fortis Support with the transaction ID.
